Towels. Always by your side in everyday life and an essential existence, almost like air.
In Japan, “towel” has the broad meaning of a pile weave cloth. As indicated with the term “towel cloth,” “towel” often refers to the material itself. Items made with pile weave cloth such as the “towelket (towel blanket)” and “towel handkerchief” include towel in their name regardless of purpose.
In the west, “towel” refers to items used to wipe the face and body regardless of the material. The pile weave cloth that is called “towel cloth” in Japan is called “terry cloth” in English. When considering all this and pondering towels, we feel that they have the important role of touching the emotions when used. Rather than simply absorbing perspiration and water, they provide softness, gentleness, and delight when touching the skin.
We clear away borders such as material and pur-poses; we simply define “towels” to suggest their future and potential, to be what brings joy to the body and mind and stimu-lates the tactile sense. We hope you will sense the happiness and comfort of towels.
