¡Organic Cotton
Organic cotton has been certified to be grown without pesticides or chemical
fertilizers on farmland that has been guaranteed not to have used pesticides
or chemical fertilizers for three years or more. Because cotton is a crop
that requires large volumes of pesticides, growing cotton organically contributes
greatly to preserving the environment. Organic farming of cotton was first
implemented to reduce the burden on the environment and also in consideration
of the health of farm workers, but in recent years, the safety of the cotton
itself is being appreciated. The organic cotton used by Uchino in general
is grown by identified producers and in identified regions and is limited
to product that has been certified by an international certification body.

¡Organic colored cotton
Organic colored cotton is almost a wild species, with its cotton naturally
colored. The naturally-colored shade of plants is a characteristic, and
this is currently made in brown and green. Because therefs no need to dye
the cotton, this has gained attention in recent years as an ecological
material that causes minimal burden on the environment during the production
process. Uchino uses a brown cotton called gCoyoteh and a green cotton
called gSea Greenh that was developed in the US by entomologist Sally Fox,
the gmother of organic cotton,h grown on the Alvarez farm in New Mexico
state. |
